The ARC is a 125,500 sqft sports + rec centre designed to be a welcoming inclusive environment to all Algonquin College students. This constructed 2 storey + basement new construction architecture + interior design project was designed to be a state-of-the-art world class building originally targeted for LEED Gold certification. Design began in 2019 and project construction was complete with doors opening officially in 2022 despite the pandemic lockdowns and supply chain restrictions.
This fast-track design-build architecture + interior design project features several exciting amenities including Ottawa’s only 10-pin bowling alley; fitness studios including yoga and boxing; open fitness training areas; 2 multi-court gyms; a sports bar; student lounge with golf and billiards; all-gender washrooms and locker rooms; climbing wall and bouldering; a 346m long discovery running track that flies throughout the interior building offering a bird’s-eye view of the facility while also harboring fitness areas.
Basketball, volleyball, badminton and soccer games can be played in this multi-purpose court gym. Students running on the green discovery track above can also watch the games live and be engaged with what’s happening in the building.
